2010: A year in review

Here are my top ten events for 2010:

  1. I went fully freelance with my writing and am now officially using my expensive college degree.
  2. I successfully completed November’s National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) challenge.
  3. My cat had kittens!
  4. I finally got new tires on my car.
  5. I upgraded my cell phone (twice) and finally settled on a Droid X.
  6. I also upgraded my digital camera.
  7. Ohio got hit with its first blizzard of the season, and I didn’t have to drive in it!
  8. The FAA N34 crew flew into town because my dad made an RC model of the big plane, and I was able to spend the entire weekend with them at the Cleveland Air Show.
  9. I actually became a football fan.
  10. I interviewed Michael Symon, Cleveland’s Iron Chef.

And there’s more greatness in store for 2011!

Food Feuds coming to Ohio

Local Iron Chef, Michael Symon, has a new tv show on the Food Network called Food Feuds.

Thanks to my local Restaurants column for Examiner.com, I was given the chance to interview him the other day. Not only did the interview go smoothly, but he was really nice! My article on the show can be found here.

(And I will definitely be eating at and reviewing the places featured on the show.)

Why yes, Cleveland does rock

Earlier this afternoon I had the opportunity to interview two local Clevelanders who had taken part in a competition on the Food Network.

Both Matt and Ryan, Rocky River natives who own and operate the Los Angeles based food truck, Grill ‘Em All, were as nice as can be. Our 20-minute chat was more Cleveland nostalgia and less The Great Food Truck Race, but it was still a blast. (And quite a coup, I might add, lil’ ol’ me getting to interview people who are on the Food Network! THE FOOD NETWORK!) I might not sleep for a week, I’m still so excited.

However, I did get enough info for a long Examiner article, and hopefully, if they progress far in the competition, I can score a follow-up interview.

Anyway, enough blabbering, here is the link to my article: Cleveland natives Grill ‘Em All hope to make roadkill out of competition on new Food Network show.
